BATTERY WARNING –
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN –
Swallowing can lead to chemical burns, perforation of soft tissue and death. Severe burns can occur within 2 hours of ingestion. Seek medical attention immediately.
Warning & Caution
WARNING
- Use only a charger designed for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Using the wrong charger, or attempting to charge non-rechargeable (primary) batteries, may cause leakage, overheating or explosion.
- The battery must be installed with its "+" and "–" poles in the correct position; otherwise it may be charged or over-discharged.
- Do not short-circuit, heat, dispose of in fire or disassemble the battery.
- Do not force-discharge the battery; this causes excessive internal gas generation and may result in bulging, leakage and explosion.
- Do not mix new and used batteries; when replacing batteries, replace all of them at the same time with batteries of the same brand and type.
- Remove exhausted batteries from the battery compartment to prevent over-discharge, which can cause leakage and damage to the device.
- Do not solder directly onto the battery; this will damage it.
- Keep the battery out of the reach of children to prevent swallowing; in case of an accident, seek medical attention immediately.
- Do not dismantle or deform the battery.
- Do not store or carry batteries together with metal objects (e.g. keys, coins), to avoid short-circuiting.
- Do not immerse the battery in water or expose it to high humidity.
- Do not attempt to modify the battery or solder it directly.
- If the battery leaks, avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
CAUTION
- If a battery leaks and the material gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with running water for at least 15 minutes and consult an ophthalmologist at once.
- If the battery gives off an odour, heats up, becomes discoloured or deformed, or shows any other abnormality during use or storage, remove it from the device immediately and dispose of it properly.
- Do not mix batteries of different types, brands or significantly different capacities.
- Avoid exposing the battery to extreme heat (e.g. direct sunlight, radiators).
Information on the prevention and management of waste rechargeable batteries
In accordance with the requirements of the EU Battery Directive and the Waste Framework Directive, for rechargeable (secondary) batteries supplied within the territory of an EU Member State, producers or the producer responsibility organisations appointed by them shall make the following information available to end-users and distributors:
(a) Role of end-users in waste prevention
Rechargeable batteries are designed to be recharged and used many times. Use only a charger that matches the battery type and avoid overcharging. Remove the battery from the device if it will not be used for a long time. When the battery can no longer hold enough charge, treat it as a waste battery and take it to a designated collection point instead of discarding it. Never attempt to charge disposable (non-rechargeable) batteries.
(b) Role of end-users in separate collection (Article 64)
End-users are obliged to separate waste batteries from other household waste. Do not discard batteries in unsorted municipal waste or litter them. Separate collection enables proper treatment and recovery of resources (e.g. nickel, cobalt, rare earth metals), in line with the EU’s environmental objectives.
(c) Separate collection, take-back and collection points, preparation for re-use, repurposing and treatment
Waste batteries can be returned via collection boxes at retail outlets, municipal recycling centres and designated battery collection points. Collected batteries undergo sorting, pre-treatment and material recovery. Where feasible, rechargeable batteries may be re-used or repurposed before recycling.
(d) Safety instructions for handling waste batteries
Do not store waste batteries together with metal objects, to prevent short-circuiting. If a battery shows signs of leakage, deformation or overheating, wear protective gloves and store it separately in a plastic bag. Never throw batteries into a fire, as this may cause an explosion or release hazardous fumes. Keep batteries out of the reach of children; if a battery is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
(e) Meaning of labels and symbols (Article 13)
Crossed-out wheeled bin symbol: indicates that the battery must not be disposed of with unsorted household waste and must be collected separately.
CE marking: indicates that the battery (or the device it is intended for) complies with the applicable EU health, safety and environmental protection requirements.
“Keep out of reach of children” symbol: warns against the risk of swallowing or improper handling, especially by children.
(f) Impact of substances on the environment and human health
Rechargeable lithium batteries contain nickel, cobalt, manganese and rare earth metals. If handled improperly, these materials can contaminate soil and water. Swallowing a battery can cause injury; keep batteries away from children. Improper disposal increases the burden on the environment, wastes recoverable materials and may cause fires or injuries during waste handling. Leaking batteries can cause chemical burns; always handle them with care.
This information is provided to support end-users in the responsible use and disposal of batteries, in line with EU waste legislation.
Conformity with legislation
The above information complies with the following legislation: Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2023 concerning batteries (sustainability, safety, labelling and information) – the battery has been assessed and found to comply with the enforceable requirements of Articles 6 and 13 of the Regulation.
Supplier responsibility note: We understand that the OEM of the device containing the battery, or of a battery supplied by the OEM as a replacement part in the European Economic Area (EEA), is responsible for preparing the DoC and the TDC. As a battery supplier under Article 39, we will provide the information in this document as support to our customers who are manufacturers.
